A weld neck flange is a type of pipe fitting. Also known as a split flange, it features a neck and a transition from the circular pipe to a butt weld connection with the pipe. They are generally used for connecting pipes and valves with PN greater than 2.5 MPa. Weld neck flanges can also be used in pipelines transporting expensive, flammable, and explosive materials.

Use of Weld Neck Flanges:

Flanges are primarily used for pipe connections. Various flanges are installed on the pipes to be connected. Threaded flanges can be used for low-pressure pipelines, while weld neck flanges are suitable for pressures above 4 kg. A gasket is added between the two flanges, which are then tightened with bolts. The specific bolts used depend mainly on the thickness of the weld neck flange under different pressures. When pumps and valves are connected to pipelines, the parts of these devices are also made into corresponding flange shapes. This is also known as a flange connection. All connecting parts that are fastened and sealed externally by bolts on two flat surfaces are generally called "flanges". Weld neck flanges should be marked according to the nominal diameter, nominal pressure, sealing surface type code, specified steel pipe series code, and standard number.
